Ascension Secondary School Ogberuru was born out of a burning desire and quest for academic pursuit in the School Calendar year of 2006/2007 with about 42 student’s enrolment in JSS1. This vision was initiated by the then Archdeacon of Orlu North Archdeaconry Ven. James Ibeakamma now retired. He took the pain and established the School at the former Domestic Science Center block of the Church i.e St. Peters Anglican Church Ogberuru. Today the School has grown from a Junior Secondary to a Senior Secondary School.

The School at inception started with white shirt and purple short for boys while girls wore purple dress with white top, purple beret and purple stockings. This uniform lasted till a time when the School authority decided to change to white short sleeve and sky blue short,  white belt, black shoe and white socks plus cardigan for boys in the Junior Secondary. The girls changed to pinafore sky blue and white belt, black shoe, beret plus the cardigan. The senior girls equally changed to white long sleeve and skirt, blue Jacket, white stockings, beret plus cardigan. To the senior boys, blue trousers and white long sleeve respectively.
The School has grown in population to about 170 students, with infrastructures which includes a standard modern Computer Studio.
The Teacher’s academic teaching skills are second to none as School exams records both in the Junior and Senior cadre are above board.
